WILLIAM JAMES BEESON (1874 – 1951), son of of Mary Ann Frances Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

William James Beeson was born on 16 February 1874 in Alabama. [1][2] He died on 5 Septermber 1951 in Los Angeles County, California. [2] He married Auline Moore on 22 June 1898 in Lee County, Alabama. [3] Leola, the daughter of William D. and Leola H. Moore, was born on 29 September 1880 in Alabama. [1][2] She died on 13 May 1956 in Los Angeles County. [2]

William recieved his B.S. in 1896 and his M.A. in 1897, both from the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College. He was principal of the Ninth District Agricultural School at Blountsville from 1897 to 1899. He was chair of history and economics at the State Normal School at Jacksonville from 1899 to 1905. He was head of the department of English and History at the Meridian Male College in Meridian Mississippi. [1]

According to the census, in 1900 William, born in May 1874, and and Auline, born in September 1879, lived with Auline's parents, William and Leola A. Moore, in New Harmony, Chambers County, Alabama. William was a school teacher and they had been married two years. Auline had had one child and it was living (but not listed). [4]

According to his 12 September 1918 draft card, William was tall and slender with blue eyes and brown hair. He was a teacher in the Los Angeles city schools. [5]

In 1920 William, aged 45, and Auline, aged 39, lived in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California with their children William M., aged 18; Martin L, aged 17; and Carrol B., aged 16. They were all born in Alabama. William was a high school teacher. In 1930 William, aged 56, and Auline, aged 49, lived in Los Angeles with their granddaughter Patricia Beeson, aged seven. William was a teacher in a junior high school. In 1940 William, aged 66, and Auline, aged 59, lived in Los Angeles and William was a school teacher. In 1950 William, aged 76, and Auline, aged 69, lived with their widowed daughter, Ruth B. Claus, aged 50, in Los Angeles. [4]

Children of William James Beeson and Auline Moore:

i. Ruth Beeson was born on 8 April 1899 in Blountsville, Alabama. [1][2] She died on 4 May 1981 in Los Angeles County. [2] She married Morse Moulton Claus on 9 June 1922 in Pasadena, California. [1][6] Morse was born on 3 September 1897 in Iowa. [2][7] He died on 5 October 1940 in Los Angeles County. [2][7][8] He is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery. [8]

Morse was a soldier in World War I. [7]

According to the census, in 1930 Moulton M., aged 33 and born in Iowa, and Ruth B, aged 31 and born in Alabama, lived in Pasadena. Moulton was a "con. engineer" for an advertising company. [4]

ii. William Melton Beeson was born on 12 March 1901 in Jacksonville, Alabama. [1] He died on 26 September 1968 in Los Angeles county. [8] He married first Alice May Ingram on 15 or 16 July 1920 in Los Angeles. [1][9] Alice was the daughter of P.B. Ingram. [9] She was born on 5 July 1902 in Massachusetts. [2] She died on 25 October 1994 in Orange County, California. [9] William and Alice apparently divorced. William married second Mrs. Evelyn C. Shamhart on 18 June 1931. [10] Evelyn was the daughter of Mrs. Frances Neptune. [10] She was born on 6 August 1887 and died on 13 March 1967. William and Evelyn are buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles County. [8]

William was a graduate of the California Institute of Technology. [10] He was an architect. [10]

Children:

ii. Martin L. Beeson was born on 21 July 1902 in Jacksonville, Alabama. [1] He died on 5 August 1970 and is buried in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Los Angeles county. [8] He married Florence Helen Johnson on 26 August 1924. [1] Helen, the daughter of Abram Close and Katie Johnson, was born on 19 July 1904 in Los Angeles City. She died on 30 August 1983 and is buried in the Inglewood Park Cemetery. [8]

Martin received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1924. [1] He worked for General Electric in Schenectady, New York. [1]

According to the census, in 1950 Martin L., aged 47 and Florence H., aged 45, lived in South Pasadena. Martin was an electrical engineer. [4]

iv. Carrol Buckley Beeson was born on 13 December 1903 in Jacksonville, Alabama. [1][2] He died on 22 February 1991 in Orange County, California. [2] He married Helen E. Bocher on 1 or 4 January 1924 in Los Angeles county. [1][13] She died on or shortly before 30 August 1971 in Los Angeles. [14]

According to the census, in 1950 Carrol, aged 46, and Helen, aged 45, lived in Los Angeles. Carrol was a professor. [4]

Carrol and Helen had two possibly living daughters.

v. Hoyt S. Beeson was born on 13 February 1908 and died three days later in Worcester, Massachusetts. [1][15]
